Some launch monitors include useful practice without a subscription, while selected simulation modes and premium features require one. Check three layers separately: the monitor's practice tools, its third-party connector, and the simulator software license. Buying the hardware does not settle all three.
Before you buy: decision checklist
| Product / feature | Current official position | Budget implication |
|---|---|---|
| Mevo Gen2 / included practice | FS Golf included; manufacturer states no required subscription | Optional third-party software is a separate choice |
| Garmin R10/R50 / Home Tee Hero | Active Garmin Golf membership required | Do not equate basic practice with that course mode |
| MLM2PRO / Premium | $199.99 annual auto-renewal listed | Confirm regional checkout, renewal and feature access |
| Uneekor / third-party connection | Paid eligible membership plus separate third-party license | Connector access does not buy the simulator license |
Start with the feature you need
List what you want to do: range practice, gapping, spin analysis, putting or playing specific courses. For each feature, ask whether it is included with the exact hardware, requires an account, needs a paid tier or uses a separate simulator. The phrase 'no subscription required' may accurately describe included practice while optional course software still costs extra. A course bundle can also have device or activation conditions.
Manufacturer examples, not a universal fee list
FlightScope currently includes FS Golf with Mevo Gen2 and states no required subscription. Garmin's Home Tee Hero for R10 and R50 requires an active Garmin Golf membership. These are different products and feature sets, so compare the workflow you actually plan to use. This guide does not establish current regional Garmin fees or promise every third-party application runs on an on-unit screen.
Premium and connector costs can stack
Rapsodo's official page lists MLM2PRO Premium at $199.99 for one year with auto-renewal, observed October 3, 2026. That is an annual billing amount, not a month-to-month contract. Uneekor describes its third-party connection as part of eligible paid memberships while third-party software is sold separately. Confirm the model, connector tier and external license together. Region, tax, promotions and exact bundle terms can change the checkout total.
Build a renewal worksheet
Use separate rows for monitor membership, simulator license, optional add-ons and any separately licensed computer/device. For each, record first-year cost, renewal amount, billing interval, trial end, auto-renewal status and cancellation steps. Ask what stops working after cancellation and what data remains accessible. Do not treat a temporary trial as a permanently included feature. A prepaid multi-year term belongs in a different column from an annual renewal.
Compare three-year cost without inventing prices
A planning calculation is hardware and installation + paid software at purchase + scheduled renewals during ownership. For an illustrative unchanged $199.99 annual plan, three annual charges total $599.97 before tax. That arithmetic is not a future price guarantee, and it excludes other components. Use your own quoted amounts and count renewals only after any included period. A higher hardware price can still be worthwhile if it better fits the room and features you need.
Questions to ask before checkout
Request a written list of included software, license owner, supported operating systems, connector requirements and renewal terms for the exact order. Avoid applying GC3S terms to GC3 or a different model's package to your chosen device. Confirm the intended home-to-range workflow and whether it needs internet or account activation. Use the merchant for current configuration/pricing and the software provider for license terms; the referral offer does not establish subscription eligibility.
